Make a patterned woven Rag Rug
Students will use their basic knowledge to dress their floor loom while creating a stripe pattern with the warp.
They will learn how to set up and weave more complex twill pattern that will pop in their coloured warp, as well as decorative finishing techniques for their rugs.
The rag rug's final size will be approximately 32" W x 60" L
Students will be provided with 8/8 cotton yarn in a range of colours for the warp design.
Students will have to bring old clothing or linens in a neutral single-tone colour to weave their project.
Typically for a large rug, a double-size bed sheet is enough (or about 4 yards of fabric). Cloth can be cut into strips of 1/2"-1" depending on the thickness of the fabric. You may look up tutorials on how to cut your materials into continuous strips or we are happy to give you a demo on the first day of class.
